The Alabama Department of Agriculture & Industries is facing an immediate $2.3 million cut resulting in the announcement of employee layoffs. And with another $4.7 million planned to be cut for the 2012 fiscal year, Agriculture Commissioner John McMillan says he hopes to find other ways to make up the budget shortfalls for the future.
