Alabama Hosting Forum on Jobs and Economic Growth

Randall Weiseman Alabama, General

Those interested are invited to attend a Forum on Jobs and Economic Growth hosted by USDA Rural Development and USDA Farm Service Agency in Montgomery, Alabama on Thursday, February 4. USDA is leading an effort to hear from Rural America on its ideas about what is needed to create jobs and stimulate economic development in rural communities across the country. The Alabama forum follows the Jobs and Economic Growth Forum that President Obama hosted at the White House December 3, 2009.

Some of the topics to be discussed are:

• Exploring ways to rejuvenate and promote local businesses;

• Creating jobs by rebuilding America’s infrastructure;

• Creating new opportunities from existing ones, such as with value-added agricultural products;

• Supporting job growth among small businesses; and

• Preparing workers for 21st century jobs.

The forum is open to the public and there is no registration fee. Roundtable participants will include business owners, lenders, education and healthcare providers, representatives of community and economic development organizations, local and state government, and the agri-business community throughout Alabama.

Again, that’s this Thursday, February 4, 2010 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Embassy Suites Hotel, 300 Tallapoosa Street in Montgomery, Alabama.
