Tom Vilsack has been named the next Secretary of Agriculture. President-elect Barack Obama announced the former Iowa governor at a press conference earlier today.
Vilsack started his political career as mayor of Mount Pleasant, Iowa in 1987, was elected to the senate in 92 and then became the first democratic Governor of Iowa in 30 years when he took office in 1998.
