UF Releases New Bahiagrass

This past Friday, University of Florida’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences officially released a new bahiagrass variety called Riata, at an event held at the Boyd Sod Farm near Greenville, Florida.

Dr. Ann Blount with the North Florida Research and Education Center at Marianna, told the crowd the new grass will be of significant benefit to producers in North and Central Florida and other parts of the Southeast.

And at the event Congressman Allen Boyd was honored for his family leadership in bahiagrass development and for his longtime support of research appropriations for Florida agriculture.
