The Farm Bill Conference Committee is scheduled to meet today and make some decisions.
Committee chairman Tom Harkin says he’ll call for votes if there’s no agreement on the tax package and how to pay for a 10-billion dollar spending increase for the bill. According to Harkin – if there’s no deal on a new farm bill by Thursday – conferees will have to decide whether to extend the current farm law by a year or two or revert to a 1949 law.
