When Parke Wright stopped by the Southeast AgNet exhibit during Citrus Expo 2012 in August, he explained his connections with a big food show exhibition in Saudi Arabia, where he has developed many contacts in business and government. In recent days we received these photos from Parke (wearing the cowboy hat) as he worked a “Fresh From Florida” exhibit there. As far as we know, it has so far been his personal initiative to organize and assemble this Florida exhibit to promote Florida citrus and other Florida ag products. E-mailing us from the Kingdom, he writes “The ‘Fresh from Florida’ idea has really caught on in Saudi Arabia with Tamimi Stores and several others…Following up with securing fresh grapefruit and orange quotations for delivery…for this seasons crop.” Publicly wishing to state his appreciation for the posters and materials some of our AgNet friends made available to him for this effort, Parke says he hopes the Florida Departments of Agriculture and Citrus will help him grow the ‘Fresh from Florida’ effort for this annual food show in the future. He adds “It was a real form of Florida Diplomacy and marketing education.” Thanks Parke, for sending the report and sharing the photos!
