Greetings,
The Florida Grazing Lands Coalition (FGLC) is having a business meeting on May 2nd in Gainesville, FL, from 10am – 12pm. This meeting will take place before the opening of the University of Florida’s Beef Cattle Short Course. Don’t forget the venue change to Alto and Patricia Straughn IFAS Extension Professional Development Center located on Shealy Drive. We would like to encourage you to attend our business meeting to add valuable input on this next year’s plan of work.

The Florida Grazing Lands Coalition (FGLC) is a Producer Initiated and Producer Led effort, carried out through local coalitions supported by livestock producer organizations, scientific and professional grazing resource organizations, conservation and environmental groups, state and federal agencies, and other interested groups.

Please come and share your ideas about how we can reach other producers and interested grazing groups. Our last few years have been very progressive. Just a few of the many projects we have completed are the Florida Grazing record books that allow producers to follow the changes on their land from year to year and a broad media campaign that includes a website that distributes a wide array of information to not only the novice beginner, but also the well educated producers.

Within the past month, we also held our third annual FGLC Grazing/Prescribed Burn Workshop in Kissimmee and we received great response from all attendees and speakers. Each year we acquire new members and obtain more interest in our coalition. This conference provided much discussion on our new initiative of building locally led producer prescribed burn associations. We hope to continue this conversation at our annual meeting and build upon the foundation we have started. Let’s look forward to our producers and groups combining decades of knowledge to make this a truly successful endeavor.

While this year held many successes for FGLC, we want to make sure that next year is just as successful, if not more so. Please join us in Gainesville at the Beef Cattle Short Course for our business meeting on May 2nd from 10am – 12pm to ensure a great year.

Thank you for your continued support.
