When Florida growers think about citrus research, the University of Florida and the U.S. Department of Agriculture usually spring to mind. Lesser known is a non-profit organization that also conducts citrus research in Florida. Bob Adair, executive director of Florida Research Center for Agricultural Sustainability (FLARES), discusses his organization and its work. Topics include research into the use of foliar nutrition – including for HLB-infected trees – and the search for a good rootstock for use on Florida’s East Coast.
