DPI: Agriculture Pest & Disease Introductions On Increase In Florida

Dr. Wayne Dixon, Acting Director, Florida Division of Plant Industry It’s the federal government’s responsibility to keep incoming pests & disease out of the U. S., but it remains the state’s job to clean them up if they get through. Acting Director of the Florida Dept. of Agriculture’s Division of Plant Industry (FDACS/DPI) in Gainesville, Wayne Dixon, says his team is dealing with a surprising increase in new introductions. Dixon adds that his predecessor, former DPI Director Richard Gaskalla, continues to play an important role in the effort in his new job at the Department of Homeland Security.
