FL to Host Additional NAIS Listening Session
The original set of listening sessions for the National Animal Identification System were set to wrap up next Monday, but late this week U.S.D.A announced they’ve scheduled an additional 6 sessions with one to be held in Jasper, Florida on June 27th for Southeast producers. NCBA Concerned about Mandatory Animal ID
As the listening sessions concerning the National Animal Identification System continue, many have let it be known they do not support a mandatory system, and that includes the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association according to Colin Woodall, their Executive Director of Legislative Affairs.
GA Beefing Up the Blood Supply
With June beef month just a week away in Georgia, an event to help kick things off will actually take place this coming Saturday May 30th, as Georgia Beef Board’s Ashley Hughes says their annual beef up the blood supply will be held.

FL Producers Reminded about Cattle Diseases
Florida Department of Agriculture’s Diane Kitchen, veterinary manager for cattle programs for the Division of Animal Industry, said while we hope to never see any cattle diseases back in Florida, producers need to be aware some do exist in other states.

Tightening Supplies for Cattle Feedlots
USDA’s May Cattle on Feed report showed another drop in feedlot inventories, as USDA Livestock Analyst Shayle Shagam said the on-feed number the first of May was three percent lower than a year ago.
