The Florida Cattle Enhancement Board provides opportunities for research and we sat down with Tom Bryant, CPA with Beasley Bryant and Company CPAs and Membership Chair of the Florida Cattlemen’s Association to learn his impressions of the work that is funded by the Florida Cattle Enhancement Board.
Bryant said, “Oh, I think the Cattlemen’s Enhancement Board just provides more research on how we can be more efficient with how we improve the carcass quality, how we improve the application of the fertilizer line, get the soil analysis, the leaf analysis, better grasses. Any money that’s invested in the industry to make us more efficient on dealing with the animals, producing a better product, quicker, timely, cheaper, helps promote the industry.”
“So it is a big bonus to have these research dollars. Sure, we have IFAS that helps in the state of Florida and the Cattle Enhancement Board gives more resources to focus on more on targeted projects that we need an answer more quicker than a long-term project like developing new type grass variety. But we just, let’s face it, our input costs are going up. Our labor issue is getting more restrictive. We need to be more efficient and this is where they’re helping us,” said Bryant.
