A letter by 40 different groups, 44 to agricultural groups, have written President Trump asking for help as more problems are happening on the farm. The recent closure of the Strait of Hormuz and its impact on fertilizer costs and fuel prices have worsened the financial straits for farmers right during the middle of planting time poses significant consequences for the food supply chain in America and around the world, they said.
The letter said, we appreciate your longstanding commitment to rural America. Now is the time to ensure that American agriculture can weather this period of extraordinary strain. Without timely assistance, losing risk, accelerating farm closures will increase, and reducing domestic production capacity, and weakening the ability of farmers and ranchers across the great nation to provide food, clothing, and fuel for the American people.
Something’s got to change and they need help immediately. They also said that the value-added opportunities for farmers in the clean fuel area is also needed, but overall right now the fertilizer costs and fuel costs down on the farm are causing major headaches.
