The National Cattlemen’s Beef Association recently held a new director orientation for state checkoff directors and Dr. Chad Carr with the University of Florida, who serves on the Florida Beef Council Board of Directors, shared his insights from the training.

Dr. Carr said, “The National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, they put on an orientation for new state board members and state staff to go over the act and order which established the beef checkoff and how the logistics and the finances and accountability work. They’re getting every penny out of your dollar and they are using it judiciously and maximizing the value of the dollars that you put forward from what you do as a producer.”

“I was very impressed with the fiscal accountability and transparency as to what they do. I was very impressed and they take that very seriously. The good work that they’re doing, certainly there’s lots of things that are contributing to this uptick that we’re having in beef demand, but certainly what’s going on with NCBA and truthfully on a smaller budget. We’ve got less cows today than we did and certainly I was pretty impressed with the staff and the professionalism and what they’re doing on behalf of America’s beef producers,” said Carr.
