US Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins was in Georgia earlier this week to amplify the announcement of Georgia’s Hurricane Helene Block Grant. During her time under the “Gold Dome,” Secretary Rollins made remarks to Georgia Legislators saying, “we have finalized our joint agreement between Georgia and USDA, a 531 million dollar block grant agreement to help your producers who are still suffering under Hurricane Helene’s damage. This grant will cover future economic loss to infrastructure, dairy feed, nursery, and timber losses that are not already covered and Tyler has made it very clear over and over how very, very important this is to so many of your constituents and frankly to the future of your state’s prosperity.”
“Very quickly, Kelly may have mentioned it a little bit earlier, the grant, but let me just quickly talk about how it’s going to work because I think for so many of you this is important to your constituents. This program will be administered through your Department of Agriculture, obviously with Tyler in the lead, you are in great hands. Sign-ups will begin this coming Monday, March 16th, and they will be open through April 27th, so about six weeks of sign-ups. President Trump understands that farmers were so negatively impacted and of course we have to continue to stand by them,” said Rollins.
