House Committee Chairman Glenn T. Thompson of Pennsylvania and Ranking Member Angie Craig, she’s from Minnesota in District 2, issued a statement this week in support of America’s Agricultural Youth Organization. They said this past week was National FFA Week. As it comes to a close, it is important to recognize the critical role that youth organizations such as FFA and 4-H and others that they play in developing the next generation of agricultural leaders.
Participating in these organizations facilitates formative experiences that alter the course of students’ lives for the better. Young leaders from all walks of life and diverse backgrounds are empowered to envision brighter futures for themselves, their community, and for American agriculture. As the House Committee on Agriculture said, we affirm our support for the crucial work carried out by youth organizations and recognize the indispensable impact these organizations have in shaping the agricultural workforce and our nation’s future leaders.
