Water is crucial for any livestock producer, regardless of the weather and Tusker Livestock Waterer’s offers producers options for watering their herds. We caught up with Paul Thompson with Tusker to learn more.
Thompson said, “Freezing tanks, freezing water troughs is one of the biggest aggravations in the cattle industry for sure. So what we’re making is a roto-molded, completely spray foam insulated livestock water. So it’s going to plumb from underneath. You never have exposed water hoses, you never have exposed valves, and whether it’s our open top type tanks that have heaters and heat tape to keep water from freezing, or whether it’s energy-free tanks that feature a unique spray foam insulated flap for closure, we’re going to keep your water from being frozen in the wintertime, and that gives you something else to do other than chop ice.”
“So a lot of folks will see these tanks and unless it’s in cold climate they’ll say well that’s great but it doesn’t get cold here, and with all due respect it may not, but it may be hot for eight, nine, ten months of the year. So just as we talked about earlier, that tank is keeping that water warm in the winter, just the inverse is happening in the summertime. So you’re installing these with a water line that’s going below your quote-unquote frost line, so you’re at a constant temperature. You’re coming up with a ground tube so that you’ve dug a hole and you’re taking advantage of mother nature’s 56, 57 degree temperature coming up. So you’re keeping that water cool in the summertime as well as warm in the wintertime,” said Thompson.
