USDA has updated their figures on the peanut crop for this coming year and some predictions that lower usage is happening abroad and at home.

On the real facts they said the peanut planted area is estimated at 1.953 thousand acres. That’s up eight percent last year. The area harvested was 1,906,000 acres and that is up 9.4 percent.

Total production was 3,589,925 farmer stock tons and that is up 11 percent from last year. The average yield is estimated at 3,767 pounds per acre and that is up 44 pounds per acre from 2024. Carry forward would be increased this year or next year and that is a concern to growers the amount of peanuts that will be carried forward the next year and it’s going to be about an increase of 40 percent of a million 153,000 tons and that is a high number as they try to make it more palatable this year.

But the crop is yet to go in the ground and even though sales are down a little bit they have time to recover before they get planted again.
