The Alabama Cattlemen’s Association is headlong into this year’s legislative session and we sat down with Erin Beasley with the Alabama Cattlemen’s Association to learn what they are looking forward to this week in Montgomery.

Beasley said, “Got another busy week coming up where we’ll be advocating on behalf of our members but always enjoy a big day around Montgomery and that’s FFA day on the hill for us with the Cattlemen’s Association. We’re involved a lot with FFA and actually get an opportunity to have about a hundred of those corduroy jackets at our building as they are taking part in their festivities for the day.”

“We’ll have several legislators that come and visit with the different school groups and, you know, just a good opportunity for us to have those kids in the building, tell them a little bit about what we do and also have those legislators in the house so that they can talk to the students a little bit about the legislative process. So, on top of that, another busy week as we’re monitoring legislation. We’ve got a lot going on at this point just because we’re about halfway through our session so we have a lot of bills that we’re working on including a bill related to feral hogs in which we had a chance to testify in a public hearing last week about that bill and then it’s up for vote this week. So, a lot of irons in the fire but happy to see that we’re about halfway through that legislative session and good chance for us to interact with those FFA groups this week. Always a highlight of the session for us,” said Beasley.
