The National Peanut Buying Point Association held their annual meeting recently in Louisville, Kentucky.
They were discussing not only peanut grading but also how to sell more peanuts during the coming year. There’s about 350 peanut buying points across America. They bring the peanuts from the farm and bring them to the buying points for measuring and for weighing and also grading to get the price for the farmers.
Over 130 to 150 people attended that conference held in Louisville, Kentucky, where they attended the National Farm Machinery Show, the largest farm machinery show in America, all held indoors.
The Buying Point Association awarded their annual Distinguished Service Award to Don Koehler, Senior Executive Director of the Georgia Peanut Commission. The Impact Award was presented to Bill Bullard, recently retiring from Birdsong Peanuts, as he was the seed procurement person.
While at the convention, the Political Action Committee held a special auction, a reverse raffle. The winners of the reverse raffle was Bill Bullard and Ronnie Thompson. They won the big prize, and the second prize went to Rodney Dawson of Hawkinsville, and the third prize went to Firetower Peanut that was in Hopeful, Georgia.
A lot of fun held at the National Convention of the Peanut Buying Point Association.
