The cattle trade is in the spotlight this week with the opening of the NCBA Convention and Trade Show in Nashville. Reports throughout the event will be coming from Music City on the Southeast AgNet, as cattle producers, feeders, and industry leaders gather to discuss policy, markets, and the outlook for the year ahead.

One of the annual highlights of the NCBA Convention is the induction of new members into the Cattle Feeders Hall of Fame. This year’s honorees include Kent Bamford of Bamford Feed Yards in Colorado and Bob Foote of Foote Cattle Company in Bucyrus, Kansas. Their induction recognizes decades of leadership, innovation, and contribution to the cattle feeding industry.

The Cattle Feeders Hall of Fame includes some of the most respected names in the business, such as Paul Engler from Texas, Kenneth Monfort of Colorado, Ladd Hitch, and Bob Gottsch. These individuals are widely regarded as pioneers whose influence continues to shape modern cattle feeding and beef production practices.

As the convention gets underway, attention is also turning to the broader cattle market outlook. The latest Cattle Inventory Report is being viewed as friendly to neutral-to-friendly, a tone that many analysts believe should help maintain underlying support in the cattle trade. While supplies remain a key factor, demand and market confidence are providing stability.

From a technical standpoint, live cattle futures are holding defined levels. April live cattle are finding resistance near the $2.40 level, while support is holding down around $2.34. These price points are being closely watched by traders and producers alike as the market gauges momentum during the convention week.

With major industry discussions, Hall of Fame recognition, and key market signals all converging in Nashville, the NCBA Convention is once again serving as a focal point for the cattle industry and the direction of the cattle trade moving forward.
