Asgrow brand soybean products from Bayer Crop Science have announced the winners of the 2025 Asgrow brand national yield contest. The annual competition is open to all U.S. farmers planting Asgrow brand soybeans and recognizes producers who achieve exceptional yields through strong management and agronomic practices.

One of this year’s winners is Russ Moon of Moon Farms in Comer, Georgia, who shared insights into the practices that helped him achieve a record-breaking yield on his farm.

“I’ve been flirting with a hundred on dry land a couple of times.
This is my actually first time really growing a group four indeterminate under irrigation and so this is my first time being able to water them. This first time really broke a hundred, but ended up being adjusted to moisture was 114 bushel to the acre.”

Moon credited a combination of intensive management strategies for the standout performance, including close monitoring of plant nutrition and disease pressure.

“You know, we foliar feeding, pulling tissue test, and just putting out a lot of micros, coming back over the top with a good bit of potash a couple of times.
And I think that we had two fungicide applications on those beans.”

Population management also played a key role, helping reduce lodging and improve overall plant health.

“And one of the main things we’ve done is we’ve pulled back on the population a little bit trying to counteract some lodging.”

Moon highlighted the performance of several Asgrow varieties, noting that strong results were seen across multiple group four indeterminate options.

“I won this plot with the 49 XF4.
My yield plot, that’s just what I had in my yield plot because that’s what we’ve seen in the past. But, you know, actually I think the 48 XF5 actually beat the 49 XF4 and then the 47 XF6 is another good variety.”

Rather than relying on a single standout variety, Moon emphasized consistency across the lineup.

“So, I mean, what we see is all those group fours indeterminates are doing well for us and I can’t put my finger on just one that’s going to win every year, but they’re all right there close together.”

Other 2025 Asgrow national yield contest winners in the Southeast included Brian Harrison and Curtis Hobbs of Alabama, along with Matt Daniels and Ben Jackson of Georgia. Their results underscore the strong performance of Asgrow soybeans and the value of tailored management practices across diverse growing conditions.
