Georgia Peanut Farm Show Recognizes More Industry Leaders and Farmers

The Georgia Peanut Farm Show, recently held at the Comfort Conference Center at the University of Georgia, continued its tradition of honoring leadership, service, and excellence within the peanut industry. In addition to the awards highlighted earlier, several more recognitions were presented during the luncheon program, celebrating individuals who have dedicated their careers to strengthening peanut production and advocacy.
One Special Award was presented to Ken Barton, executive director (retired) of the Florida Peanut Producers Association. Barton was recognized for his long-standing service to the peanut industry and his contributions to advancing peanut policy, grower representation, and regional cooperation across state lines.
Another Special Award went to Andy Bell of the Bainbridge area. Bell is a former chairman of the National Peanut Board and was honored for his leadership and service at the national level. His work helped promote peanuts and peanut products while supporting growers through research, marketing, and education initiatives.
The Outstanding Young Farmer Award was presented to Will Anderson of the Statesboro area in Bulloch County. Anderson was selected from a competitive group of applicants seeking the title of Outstanding Georgia Young Peanut Farmer, recognizing his commitment to farming, leadership, and the future of the peanut industry.
In addition, the Outstanding Georgia Peanut Farmers of the Year were recognized, with one farmer selected from each district represented by the Georgia Peanut Commission. These awards honor producers who have devoted much of their lives to peanut production and improving the industry for future generations.
The district recipients were:
- District 1: Willard Mims of Donaldsonville, Georgia
- District 2: Jones Brothers Farms of Chula, Georgia
- District 3: Carl Hood of Midville, Georgia
- District 4: Keith Moore of Cordele, Georgia
- District 5: Rodney Locke of Dawson, Georgia
These farmers were recognized for their dedication, innovation, and leadership within their communities and across the state. Collectively, they represent decades of experience and commitment to producing high-quality peanuts while supporting research, sustainability, and industry growth.
The Georgia Peanut Farm Show once again proved to be a meaningful event for the peanut industry, not only by providing education and networking opportunities, but also by honoring the individuals who have given nearly their entire lives to making the peanut industry stronger and more successful.
