As farmers, processors, and agribusiness professionals plan for the new year, several important January events deserve a spot on the calendar. These meetings, trade shows, and short courses provide valuable opportunities for education, networking, and insight into crop production, processing, and market trends across the Southeast and beyond.

One of the first major events takes place on January 15, when the Georgia Peanut Farm Show will be held at the University of Georgia Tifton Campus Comfort Center in Tifton, Georgia. This annual event is a cornerstone for peanut producers, featuring research updates, industry exhibitors, and discussions focused on peanut production and profitability. Additional information and registration details are available at www.gapeanuts.org.

Immediately following, the Peanut and Tree Nut Processors Association Annual Meeting runs from January 16 through January 19 in Scottsdale, Arizona. This event is a must-attend for anyone planning to process peanuts or tree nuts in the coming year. The conference brings together processors, suppliers, and industry experts to discuss food safety, technology, regulations, and market opportunities within the nut industry.

Row crop farmers will want to mark January 20 and 21 for the Alabama Row Crop Short Course, a highly popular educational event. This year’s short course will be held at the Doster Community Center in Prattville, Alabama. Known for its strong attendance, the program offers timely production updates, pest management strategies, and economic outlooks for Alabama and regional producers.

Cotton producers have an important meeting as well, with the Southeastern Regional Cotton Annual Meeting scheduled for January 19 through January 22. The event will take place at the Westin at Hilton Head Island in South Carolina. This meeting brings together cotton growers, researchers, and industry leaders to discuss policy, research priorities, and challenges facing the cotton sector in the Southeast.

Rounding out the list is the Corn Short Course on January 20, hosted at the University of Georgia Tifton Campus Comfort Center. With some farmers considering increased corn acreage next year, this one-day event will focus on production practices, input management, and yield optimization.

Together, these January agriculture events offer valuable learning opportunities to help producers and agribusiness professionals start the year informed and prepared.
