National Peanut Board Announces New Leadership Team for 2026

The National Peanut Board (NPB), based in Atlanta, continues its mission of working on behalf of peanut farmers across the nation through a producer-funded promotion program. Supported by a deduction from each ton of peanuts marketed, the National Peanut Board uses these funds to drive research, promotion, and consumer outreach that strengthens demand for U.S. peanuts and peanut products.
As the organization looks ahead to 2026, the Board is entering an important period marked by branding decisions and leadership transitions. To guide these efforts, the National Peanut Board has officially announced its newly elected officers, who will begin their terms on January 1, 2026, and serve through December 31, 2026.
Neil Baxley of South Carolina has been elected as chairman of the National Peanut Board. Baxley brings valuable experience to the role, having previously served as vice chairman. His leadership is expected to help steer the Board through upcoming strategic initiatives that support peanut growers nationwide.
Jeff Roper of Texas has been elected vice chairman. Roper previously served as treasurer, giving him a strong understanding of the Board’s financial priorities and producer-funded responsibilities. His continued service reflects a commitment to fiscal stewardship and effective governance.
Thomas Adams of Alabama will serve as treasurer. Adams previously held the position of secretary, and his transition into the treasurer role ensures continuity and institutional knowledge as the Board manages promotion investments and program funding.
Wesley Drake of Virginia has been elected secretary. Drake joins the officer team at a time when the National Peanut Board remains focused on strengthening consumer trust, expanding demand, and supporting peanut farmers through research and promotion.
These newly elected officers succeed Casey Cox Kerr of Georgia, who served as the Board’s president over the past year. The National Peanut Board recognized Kerm’s leadership and service as instrumental in advancing the organization’s mission.
With a leadership team representing key peanut-producing states, the National Peanut Board is well positioned to continue advocating for farmers, making strategic branding decisions, and ensuring that producer checkoff dollars are invested effectively. As the peanut industry moves into 2026, this experienced group of officers will play a central role in shaping the future of peanut promotion and growth across the United States.
