The U.S. Department of Agriculture has announced the awarding of new peanut butter bids as part of its ongoing support for child nutrition programs and other domestic food distribution efforts. The awards were issued through the USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) Commodity Procurement Program under solicitation number 1071.

These commodity purchases are intended to supply schools and nutrition programs across the country with high-quality, protein-rich food products. Deliveries from this solicitation are scheduled to be made to various locations nationwide between January 31 and March 31, 2026.

The awarded bid covers a total of 6,959,000 pounds of product. This includes peanut butter, roasted in-shell peanuts, and a limited number of sunflower butter items. These products will be distributed through USDA-supported nutrition channels, helping meet demand in school meal programs and other domestic food assistance initiatives.

Several companies from across the country were awarded portions of the bid. Producing companies receiving awards include:

  • Severn Peanut Company of Severn, North Carolina
  • Red River Commodities of Fargo, North Dakota
  • American Blanching of Fitzgerald, Georgia
  • Guidrea Liaison Group of Telecoma, California
  • Common Herbals of Pennsylvania
  • Sunshine Peanut Company of Tampa, Florida

Each of these companies agreed to produce and deliver a portion of the approved peanut butter and related products under the awarded solicitation. All deliveries associated with this bid are expected to be completed by March 31, 2026.

USDA commodity purchases like this one play a vital role in supporting both nutrition programs and agricultural producers. For the peanut industry, these bids help create steady demand while ensuring nutritious food reaches children and families across the country.

Peanut butter remains a staple in child nutrition programs due to its shelf stability, affordability, and high protein content. Continued procurement by USDA highlights the importance of peanuts and peanut products within the broader U.S. food assistance system.

With this latest solicitation awarded, peanut processors are now moving forward with production and logistics to meet delivery timelines. The industry expressed appreciation for USDA’s continued need for peanut butter to support child nutrition programs nationwide, reinforcing the strong connection between American agriculture and food security efforts.
