Florida Beef Council Highlights Fall Comfort Food with Beef Recipes
With the arrival of cooler weather, many Floridians are turning their attention to hearty comfort food recipes that bring warmth and flavor to the table. DM Maples with the Florida Beef Council shared one of her favorite dishes for this time of year and encouraged consumers to explore new ways to enjoy beef this fall season.
“You can tell Florida is really experiencing some fall. It makes me think of pot roast weather. I think this is the time of year when those hearty comforting meals start sounding good to us again. Things like chilies and stews and soups. In fact, I’ve got one going myself today,” Maples said.
With Thanksgiving about three weeks away, Maples reminded listeners that while turkey often takes center stage, beef can also play a special role in holiday celebrations.
“Of course turkey will always have its place on the table at Thanksgiving. But I think beef can certainly be a part of the celebration too. Maybe it’s an additional entrée, maybe it’s in an appetizer or a great side dish.”
Among her top seasonal favorites is the Maple Glazed Rib Roast with Acorn Squash, a recipe from the “Beef. It’s What’s for Dinner.” collection.
“One of my personal favorites this time of year is the maple glazed rib roast. It has an acorn squash on the side. It’s a Beef It’s What’s for Dinner recipe and it really combines a lot of those great flavors we think of in the fall — the maple and the beautiful squash.”
Maples encouraged home cooks to visit FloridaBeef.org to explore an extensive database of beef recipes designed for every skill level and occasion.
“If you visit the floridabeef.org site, you can find that recipe and so many others all from the Beef It’s What’s for Dinner collection of recipes. If you’ve never used it, I’ll tell you the database is super easy. You can search by the cut, by the cooking method, or even by the flavor profile. And you can look up holiday favorites or side dishes or quick weeknight dinners. And all of the recipes include nutritional information, which I know is important to so many.”
Whether you’re planning a Thanksgiving menu, searching for new weeknight meal ideas, or craving a hearty fall stew, the Florida Beef Council encourages you to make beef the centerpiece of your seasonal cooking.
“So whether your listeners are building a Thanksgiving menu, maybe they’re just looking for something new on their weeknight meals, beef is always a delicious way to bring people together.”
