The Georgia Cotton Commission reminds those traveling on the highways this fall about road safety, especially as cotton growers continue harvesting this year’s crop.

Taylor Sills, executive director of the Georgia Cotton Commission, discussed highway safety at this year’s Sunbelt Ag Expo.

“I’m obviously fortunate to know and deal with a lot of folks from across the state. (The other day) I saw where a farming family friend of mine was involved in an accident moving some peanut equipment because someone just felt like they had to pass them,” Sills said.

“These pieces of equipment are big. In a lot of situations, they’re wider than the road. They can’t go real fast. They’re going to get their year’s work out of the ground. Whether it’s cotton, peanuts or whatever, help support other people in these rural communities and rural areas, give them a little space and give them a little grace.”
