The Alabama Cattlemen’s Association is making strides in promoting beef both in the state and on the national stage, with a strong finish to Beef Month in sight.

We spoke with Bailey Watson of the Alabama Cattlemen’s Association, who shared insights from her recent trip to a key industry gathering. “I went to the Partnerships in Action event last week, October 13th through 16th. It was in Denver, Colorado and this is actually kind of where all the state beef councils come together and it’s hosted by the Federation of State Beef Councils, so it’s a chance for all the state beef councils to come together and plans for the upcoming year.”

The event brought together representatives from across the country. “We actually had 30 state beef councils there and this is actually my first time going as an employee, so I got to learn about some of the programs that are offered at the national level, the state of the consumer, the state of the beef consumer and also new promotions that they’re pushing out for Beef It’s What’s for Dinner, so it was a good time.”

Back in Alabama, local cattlemen have played a key role in bringing beef promotion efforts to their communities. “And on the progress of Beef Month, we’re halfway there, which is crazy how fast October has flown by, but our county cattlemen’s associations have done a great job of getting out there and sharing the story of beef and promoting beef in their community, so they have been very beneficial to that statewide beef promotion.”

The state has also participated in high-visibility promotions. “We have had some state-level promotions, such as we just actually had a Beef It’s What’s for Dinner sign on the back stretch of Talladega yesterday at the Yellowwood 500. We’ve had some commercials and some partnerships, but kind of as we round out October, we’re just really hoping to continue to see our county cattlemen’s promote that beef product and the beef industry in their local communities, because that’s where most of the impact can be made.”

With local efforts paired with national strategy, Alabama’s beef story continues to grow stronger.
