Agriculture Groups Urge Trump for Immediate Farm Support

A coalition of over 100 organizations connected to agriculture is calling on President Trump to take swift action to support rural America amid growing economic pressure on U.S. farmers.
In a joint letter to the president, the groups stated, “We applaud you for recently signing into law the one big beautiful bill, which also contains some of the most significant farm safety net enhancements for the row crops and program resources across all of agriculture, and it’ll help for decades.” They emphasized that the agricultural provisions of the new legislation are projected to deliver “significant and critical support to the farm economy.”
However, while the bill has been celebrated for its long-term benefits, agriculture leaders are concerned about the delayed impact. The letter highlights that, “the achievements of the one big beautiful bill, a major problem is farmers will have to wait to October of 2026 before seeing the most significant benefits of this legislation, and Congress still needs to enact a full five-year farm bill to address a lot of other issues in agriculture.”
The urgency stems from mounting challenges in the agricultural sector. U.S. farmers are currently grappling with declining crop prices and skyrocketing input costs. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), per-farm production expenses have surged by nearly 40% since 2020.
“In the meantime, growers will continue to face enormous challenges in the marketplace. Crop prices are low, while input costs have increased substantially during the recent years,” the letter warns.
The group is urging Trump to implement short-term relief measures that could stabilize farm income while the broader legislative solutions take shape. Without immediate intervention, many growers risk financial hardship as they wait for the full implementation of the farm bill in 2026.
As rural economies continue to feel the pressure, agricultural leaders are hopeful that their unified voice will prompt swift policy adjustments from the Trump campaign or Congress to address these pressing concerns.
