Governor Brian Kemp delivered heartfelt remarks at the 2025 Sunbelt Ag Expo in Moultrie, Georgia, where he spoke directly to the agricultural community about ongoing recovery efforts following Hurricane Helene and other challenges that have hit the state’s farming sector over the past year.

“He said that this has been a tough year with Hurricane Helene and other challenges and that recovery and rebuilding continues. He said we are a little over a year past Helene and Marty and I, his wife there, said they have been on the road with several different events reminding people in our ag community that we have not forgotten you. There is still a recovery going on around many parts of the state.”

Governor Kemp made it clear that his administration is standing firm with Georgia’s agriculture industry, particularly those still struggling in hard-hit areas.

“He said that also we know there is a lot of recovery still in the works and a lot of work that needs to be done. I want you to know that we have not forgotten you and will not forget you and will continue to work with you.”

In a show of encouragement, Kemp highlighted the resilience of Georgia’s farming families, especially those in the timber industry.

“Governor said tough times don’t last, but tough people do.”

“Kemp said he’s referring to Georgia’s farmers and especially their timber growers.”

The Sunbelt Ag Expo also celebrated excellence in agriculture by naming Kent Hamilton of Moultrie, Georgia, as the 2025 Southeastern Farmer of the Year, a recognition for his leadership and innovation in fruit, vegetable, and cattle production across several states.

Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tyler Harper also addressed the crowd, reaffirming the crucial role of farming in the state’s economy.

“He said the economic impact of agriculture is still the number one industry at 91 billion dollars in Georgia. That is Tyler Harper, the Agricultural Commissioner in Georgia.”

The Sunbelt Ag Expo continues to serve as a major platform for leaders to connect with farmers, demonstrate technology, and honor those who keep Georgia’s largest industry thriving.
