The annual Sunbelt Ag Expo this week in Moultrie, Georgia, means attendees can once again visit the Georgia Peanut Commission building for its annual peanut delights.

Maddie Frost, project coordinator-farm and field services for the Georgia Peanut Commission, talked about the three-day event this week and what growers and peanut lovers can expect when visiting the GPC.

“We always look forward to these three days. It’s a chance for us to meet with a lot of growers which is super nice because there’s only a few times a year we get to do that,” Frost said. “This is also a chance to get to meet with consumers and we have a lot of peanut food this year. As always we have our peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. We have our fried peanuts.

“People are getting a lot of peanut food, that’s for sure.”

Part of the Georgia Peanut Commission’s initiative is education. The Sunbelt Ag Expo allows the commission to continue educating consumers about the health benefits of peanuts and how Georgia produces approximately half of the United States’ peanut crop.

“Peanuts are good and good for you, so this is a good way for us to portray that message,” Frost said.
