The Alabama Cattlemen’s Association is proud to kick off October as Beef Month in Alabama, now celebrating its 61st year. This long-standing tradition recognizes the contributions of Alabama’s beef cattle industry, while promoting the enjoyment and nutritional value of beef across the state.
Erin Beasley, Executive Vice President of the Alabama Cattlemen’s Association, emphasized the importance of this celebration:
“Each October, we have the opportunity to celebrate Alabama’s cattle industry and the hardworking families who bring beef to the table. We encourage everyone to enjoy beef as part of their tailgates, fall festivals, and family gatherings this month.”
Throughout the month, the Alabama Cattlemen’s Association (ACA) has lined up a series of statewide events and promotional efforts to spotlight beef and support cattle producers. Activities include:
- Advertising campaigns across digital and social media platforms
- Special events at Talladega Superspeedway, the Alabama National Fair, and the Walk of Life
- Local outreach programs such as Cowboy in the Classroom
- County chapter steak sandwich sales
- Appearances in local media and community fairs
These efforts help educate the public, boost beef consumption, and showcase the vital role cattle producers play in Alabama’s economy and food system.
As the second-largest animal agriculture sector in Alabama, the beef industry contributes an estimated $2.5 billion in economic impact and supports more than 10,000 jobs statewide.
Alabama Beef Month also provides a platform for cattlemen and cattlewomen to share their personal stories and educate the next generation on the importance of local food production. Through school visits, interviews, and community involvement, ACA is putting a face to the families behind the beef.
Whether it’s for a tailgate, family cookout, or fall festival, the Alabama Cattlemen’s Association encourages everyone to put beef at the center of the plate this October.
