Last week, Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins and Undersecretary of Trade and Foreign Agricultural Affairs Luke Lindbergh announced a bold new initiative to support U.S. agricultural producers and exporters. The aggressive three-point USDA trade plan is designed to strengthen American agriculture through expanded market access, reciprocal trade agreements, and improved financial tools.

The plan includes a fast-tracked rollout of the America First Promotion Program, the launch of a new model for trade missions, and a revitalized focus on reciprocal trade opportunities. One of the most ambitious components is the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which authorizes an additional $285 million per year for trade promotion efforts.

She said President Trump is putting American agriculture first by negotiating fair, reciprocal deals that benefit U.S. producers, farmers, and ranchers. Secretary Rollins is focused on expanding market access, enforcing trade commitments, and boosting rural prosperity, market promotion support, along with rapid response to reciprocal trade agreements, and better financing programs that will translate into chipping away at the $50 billion agricultural deficit.

The USDA will launch the America First Promotion Program one year ahead of schedule, injecting $285 million into immediate trade promotion activities. This funding is expected to boost international visibility for U.S. agricultural exports, particularly in high-potential markets.

Alongside this, USDA will roll out a new model of trade missions aimed at reciprocal trade countries and emerging markets. This new approach builds on existing efforts but emphasizes mutual trade benefits and long-term partnerships.

Overall, they’re going to launch again the better known as the Approach to Reciprocal Trade deals.

The emphasis on reciprocal trade marks a strategic pivot for U.S. trade policy in agriculture, aiming to level the playing field for American farmers and ranchers.

With the America First Promotion Program and expanded trade missions, the USDA is positioning American agriculture for a new era of global competitiveness, reduced trade deficits, and increased rural prosperity.
