The Georgia Beef Board is preparing for its most important consumer interaction of the year at the Georgia National Fair, an event that reaches hundreds of thousands of people and allows direct engagement with families, food lovers, and future beef buyers.
We spoke with Wyatt Doolittle of the Georgia Beef Board about what’s planned for this year’s 10-day fair.
“So the Beef Board is excited and ready to move into our favorite 10 days of the year, which is the Georgia National Fair. So we’ll have the opportunity to interact with over half a million consumers and share the message of beef.”
This annual fair provides a prime platform for consumer education, and the Georgia Beef Board is bringing out one of its most popular tools—the Eat Beef trailer.
“This is one of the most impactful consumer outreach events we participate in and this year we’re incorporating our enclosed Eat Beef trailer as part of the booth. This trailer offers some high impact visibility and a chance for consumers to take pictures and tag Georgia Beef and Beef It’s What’s for Dinner.”
The booth will be located in the Georgia Grown building, and as always, volunteers from across the beef community are stepping up to share their passion for Georgia-raised beef.
“We’ve had great response from our volunteers and they’ve been eager to get on the schedule to promote Georgia Beef at our booth that’ll be in the Georgia Grown building and we’re always so appreciative to have friends of the industry working alongside us.”
In addition to showcasing beef’s nutritional value and sustainability, this year’s event will also serve as an opportunity to address consumer concerns, including emerging animal health issues.
“This year, throughout my past four months and interactions with consumers, they’ve been very, very interested about New World Screw Worm and what that means for cattle producers and the beef supply chain. So I do want to encourage all of my producers to stay up to date on all information and announcements regarding screw worm to help us advocate for the safety of beef and make consumers feel safe about their protein choice.”
