The Florida Cattlemen’s Association held its Fall Quarterly Meeting in Okeechobee this past week, bringing together cattle producers, industry partners, and sponsors from across the state for two days of education, networking, and leadership updates. The event showcased the ongoing commitment of Florida’s cattle industry to collaboration and innovation.
This year’s meeting included a full slate of activities. “This is our first official meeting of the year. We’re required to have four meetings throughout the year and this is our fall quarterly,” said Florida Cattlemen’s Association President Rick Moyer.
The program featured a Bible study, a legislative update, staggered committee meetings, and an opening general session headlined by Marshall Sewell with Mind Your Mellon, who shared insights on mental wellness in agriculture. That evening, attendees enjoyed a steak dinner hosted by the Florida Cattlewomen’s Association, offering a chance for fellowship and networking among producers and industry supporters.
“I do want to thank our sponsors. We have sponsors for this event and try to get sponsors for all of our quarterlies. It helps reduce the registration fees for our members and the sponsors get recognition as well. So 6B Cattle, P&L Financial Services Incorporated, and Williamson Cattle Company helped put this event on and we can’t do it without our sponsors and we can’t thank them enough.”
The event concluded on Friday with board meetings for both the Florida Cattlemen’s Association and the Florida Cattlewomen’s Association, wrapping up another productive session for the state’s cattle community.
Looking ahead, Moyer noted a format change for the next quarterly. “This is a two-day quarterly. In December we’re going to have a one-day quarterly. So we’re always constantly trying to evolve and make things better, make things better for our producers.”
“Everybody gets concerned about change every now and then, but we’re going to try a one-day quarterly in December and what that may allow somebody that says, hey I can’t afford to be away for two days, maybe they’ll come and show up and participate in the one-day quarterly and I think that is December 4th in Marion County and Ocala. So yeah we’re looking forward to that.”
