The National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA) and the Public Lands Council (PLC) are congratulating Brian Nesvick on his confirmation as the next Director of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS). This key appointment marks a significant step toward strengthening science-based wildlife management and reducing regulatory burdens on ranchers and livestock producers.
Kaitlin Glover, NCBA Executive Director of Natural Resources and PLC Executive Director, praised the confirmation and its importance to the livestock industry. She stated, “While the Trump administration is making huge progress reforming the Endangered Species Act and alleviating other regulatory burdens, ranchers need a permanent Fish and Wildlife Service director. And this afternoon, the Senate confirmed a qualified, experienced leader.”
Brian Nesvick brings a wealth of experience to the role. He has led Western engagement on complex wildlife and natural resource issues and is well-known for his decisive leadership style. Glover continued, “Nesvick is uniquely qualified for this role, having previously served as the director of the Wyoming Game and Fish Department and honed his leadership skills while serving in the National Guard with overseas deployments in Iraq and Kuwait.”
Both NCBA and PLC thanked the Senate for acting swiftly to confirm Nesvick, helping to reduce uncertainty for ranchers and farmers across the nation. “NCBA and PLC thank the Senate for diligently working to swiftly confirm nominees and reduce uncertainty for and livestock producers across the country congratulate Brian Nesvick on his confirmation to lead such an influential agency.”
U.S. Senator John Barrasso of Wyoming emphasized Nesvick’s outstanding credentials during his remarks on the Senate floor. “He is the definition of qualified, and he is one of the very best of Wyoming. He has been the director of the Wyoming Game and Fish Department since 2019.” Barrasso highlighted Nesvick’s long-standing military service as well, noting, “He served in the Wyoming Army National Guard since 1986. Brigadier General, Bronze Star recipient.”
Senator Barrasso concluded, “As the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Director, Brian’s going to play a critical role in conserving our natural resources. He’s going to take the reins at a time when politics, not science, have too often driven decisions by the agency. I look forward to working with Brian to restore science to conservation policy.”
