In a major step to support farmers and ranchers across the southeastern United States, U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins announced the release of $675 million in federal disaster relief funding. This allocation is specifically aimed at assisting agricultural producers in Florida and the broader Southeast who have suffered devastating economic losses from the past two hurricane seasons.

A Commitment to Farmers and Ranchers
Secretary Rollins emphasized the federal government’s commitment to helping the agricultural community recover. She acknowledged the severe damage that recent hurricanes have inflicted on farming operations and underscored the USDA’s close coordination with Florida officials to deliver timely aid.
“America’s farmers and ranchers across the Southeast and in Florida have been hit hard and suffered significant economic losses during the last two hurricane seasons,” said Rollins. “The Trump administration has our farmers’ back and will ensure they have the resources they need to continue to produce the safest, most reliable, and most abundant food supply in the world.”
State-Level Support from Florida Leadership
Florida Commissioner of Agriculture Wilton Simpson expressed his appreciation for the federal support and recognized the urgent need for financial assistance.
“I want to thank President Trump, Secretary of Agriculture Rollins, and USDA for recognizing the need for critical financial relief for our farmers, ranchers, and growers in Florida,” Simpson stated. “Florida producers have endured back-to-back devastating hurricane seasons, and this funding is a major victory that will help them rebuild, recover, and continue feeding our state and our nation.”
Agriculture and National Security
Commissioner Simpson also stressed that the significance of agricultural recovery extends beyond economic interests.
“Food production is not just an economic issue, it’s a matter of national security,” he added, underscoring the essential role Florida agriculture plays in the nation’s food supply chain.
