Major Buyers Fueling Growth in Peanut Industry
Peanut growers have a lot to celebrate thanks to continued demand from powerhouse buyers like JIFF® and Smucker’s®. These two iconic brands are behind a surge in peanut butter production, contributing significantly to the U.S. peanut market.
Alanna Costello, Senior Director of Finance for Frozen Handheld and Spreads at The J.M. Smucker Company®, recently shared exciting updates. Smucker’s® holds the number one branded position in peanut butter, fruit spreads, and frozen snacks and sandwiches. This year marks the 11th consecutive year of double-digit growth for their fast-growing product line, Uncrustables®.
To meet soaring demand, Smucker’s® has opened its third Uncrustables® manufacturing facility, this one in McAllen, Alabama. The company’s goal? A staggering $1 billion in annual Uncrustables® sales.
New Products Target Millennials and Gen Z
The freezer-favorite Uncrustables® brand is resonating with younger generations. In fact, four million new households have added the ready-to-eat sandwiches to their freezers this year alone. As part of their continued expansion, Smucker’s® is launching several new sandwich varieties, including:
- Peanut Butter Only
- Peanut Butter & Honey Spread
- Peanut Butter & Raspberry Spread
This innovation reflects the company’s broader strategy to expand its share in the snack and peanut butter markets.
JIFF® Sales Surge to $900 Million
Meanwhile, JIFF®—America’s top-selling peanut butter—continues to post strong numbers, recording $900 million in sales last year. Brand awareness and consumer loyalty remain high, and the company shows no signs of slowing down.
With robust investments in product development and processing infrastructure, JIFF® and Smucker’s® are driving significant growth across the peanut supply chain—good news for American peanut farmers.
