Well, peanut farming in America is a lifestyle. That’s the word from the PQ folks at the PQ Magazine with the National Peanut Board. They say peanut farming is more than just a profession, it’s a way of life passed down through generations and rooted in tradition and constantly evolving through innovation.

One person they feature is Casey Cox Kerr. She is a farmer, a peanut farmer that runs deep into her veins because she’s been in it a long time. As the sixth generation of her family-owned farm, she’s at the Flint River in South Georgia.

She continues that legacy with agricultural excellence at the Longleaf Ridge Farms.

Since transitioning to a full-time farming operation, she worked alongside her father and now her husband, ensuring that their daughter, Rooney, will also inherit a thriving operation someday.

Beyond the fields, Cox’s leadership is involved in environmental leadership as well. She’s also on the Peanut Board as the chairman. That reinforces her commitment to sustaining agriculture for future generations, her efforts to promote peanut consumption and address the peanut allergies.

All of that showcase can show that today, she is just not only a cultivator, but she’s a champion of the industry.
