With the release of the Senate’s version of the “Big Beautiful Bill”, livestock industry groups are noting their support of the language in the bill. The US Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry released their legislative text for the Big Beautiful Bill Earlier this week including support for the National Animal Disease Preparedness and Response Program, the National Animal Health Laboratory Network, and the National Animal Vaccine and Veterinary Countermeasures Bank.

National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA) Executive Director of Government Affairs Tanner Beymer said, “A successful farm or ranch starts with healthy cattle and as cattle producers face increasing risk of a foreign animal disease outbreak, the need for robust cattle health provisions is even more crucial. Senate Ag Committee Chairman John Boozman knows how important this issue is and NCBA thanks him for working to protect farmers and ranchers from devastating foreign animal diseases. We urge the Senate to quickly pass these provisions so they can become law.

The National Pork Producers Council (NPC) President Duane Stateler shared their support as well saying, “America’s 60,000+ pork producers thank Chairman Boozman for fighting to include vital animal health legislation in the reconciliation legislation. During these times of wild uncertainty, we strongly urge the Senate to keep these provisions in the final bill.

According to a one-pager from the committee on the text, the language also includes strengthening SNAP work requirements, controls the growth of SNAP by limiting benefit growth to rate of inflation, modernizing the farm safety net, enhancing risk management tools, expanding access to more affordable and responsive crop insurance, among others
