Tyron Spearman reports that peanut farmers in Georgia, Florida, and Alabama are making their final rounds on planting this 2025 crop.
The final planting date is coming up. That’s the last date a peanut producer may plant and receive full crop insurance coverage. After that date, that amount of coverage will be reduced by a coverage of 1% per day through the late planting period.
In Georgia, most counties have a final planting date of June 5th. The end of the late planting period is June 15th. So, you have until June 5th, but you may extend it to June 15th as the final late planting time. The final planting date was May 31st for a group of counties in the northern section of Georgia, but they may also plant until tomorrow, June 10th.
The end of the late planting period in Florida is June 15th
Alabama has a northern zone, which is June 10th, and a southeastern or southern zone, and that is June 15th.
The planting deadline in other states:
- Texas is like June 10th
- Oklahoma June 15th
- Most of South Carolina is June 15th
- Virginia and North Carolina planting dates up at June 10th
- Georgia, Florida, Alabama, and most of South Carolina is June the 15th, with Virginia and North Carolina planting dates up at June the 10th as well.
