USDA Releases Final 2024 Cotton Report

The US Department of Agriculture National Agricultural Statistics Service has released the final Cotton production  report for 2024 for the southeast. Becky Sommer with USDA NASS explains. The final 2024 production for all cotton is estimated at 14.4 million 480?pound bales, 19 percent higher than the 2023 crop. The United States yield for all cotton is estimated at 886 pounds per acre, down 14 pounds from the previous year. Final production in Georgia totaled 1.93 million bales, down 11 percent from the previous season.  In Alabama, production totaled 673,000 bales, a decrease of 8 percent from 2023.  In Florida, 119,000 bales were produced, 7 percent above last year.
