The United States Senate Committee on Appropriations held a hearing earlier this week to review the President’s Fiscal Year 2026 Budget Request for the US Department of Agriculture. During the hearing, Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins answered questions from the Senators and in his questioning, Senator Jon Ossoff pointedly asked Secretary Rollins about the status of disaster relief funding in response to Hurricane Helene that resulted in the following exchange.
