US Senate Ag Committee Nomination Hearing Scheduled for USDA Deputy Secretary and General Counsel

The United States Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry Chairman John Boozman of Arkansas and Ranking Member Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota has announced a hearing to consider two USDA nominees. Judge Stephen Vaden has been nominated to serve as the Deputy Secretary of Agriculture and Tyler Clarkson has been nominated to serve as General Counsel. Judge Stephen Alexander Vaden, a native of Union City Tennessee, grew up helping on his family’s farm and currently serves as judge on the US Court of international trade. Judge Vaden’s past experience also includes working as USDA general counsel, a member of the Board of the Commodity Credit Corporation and working for two law firms in private practice. Tyler Clarkson served as USDA’s deputy general counsel in President Trump’s first term and has worked in the office of Information and Regulatory Affairs. Clarkson currently serves as vice president and deputy general counsel at Ginkgo Bioworks. The hearing will take place on Tuesday, April 8th.
