The Georgia Agricultural Hall of Fame has inducted two new members in 2025 through the University of Georgia’s CAES Alumni Association Awards and Georgia Agricultural Hall of Fame Ceremony. This year’s honorees were David Bridges, a former Assistant Dean for CAES at UGA’s Tifton Campus and Ralph Evans a businessman and peanut industry leader. Bridges’ contributions in agriculture are many including research efforts in weed control in tobacco led to the registration of two novel herbicides as well as, his expertise in defending the safety and demand for Georgia peanuts. As assistant dean for CAES at the UGA Tifton Campus, Bridges helped establish undergraduate degrees and increasing the graduate students on campus. Bridges became the 10th president of Abraham Baldwin Agricultural college in 2006, overseeing the shift of the college from a two-year to a four-year institution and the tripling of enrollment of agricultural programs. Evans was recognized due to this leadership at RW Griffin Feed, Seed and Fertilizer, a company founded by his grandfather in 1922. Evans joined the board of Chem Nut Inc in 1983 after college and took a lead role in organizing premium peanut and serves on the board of directors. Since Evans took over the family business in1977, he has grown the company from a single location with 25 employees to a conglomerate at 42 different companies with over 500 employees.
