Florida Commissioner of Agriculture Wilton Simpson, alongside Senator Keith Truenow and Representative Kaylee Tuck, has introduced legislation aimed at bolstering Florida’s agriculture industry, increasing consumer protections, and enhancing emergency preparedness.

The proposed legislation includes measures to protect farmers from discriminatory lending practices based on environmental policies, returning local control over solar farm approvals, and providing tax relief for agricultural businesses. Additionally, the bill seeks to strengthen Florida’s emergency fuel supply, streamline the concealed weapon license process, and create an “Honest Services Registry” to ensure transparency in charitable organizations.

Commissioner Simpson emphasized the importance of defending Florida’s agricultural heritage, stating, “This legislation is a strong step forward to defend Florida’s agricultural industry and the hardworking farmers, ranchers, and growers who fuel our economy.”

Further consumer protections include cracking down on misleading food labeling, requiring businesses to clearly mark prices, and closing a loophole allowing the sale of psychedelic mushrooms. The bill also supports FFA and 4-H programs, ensuring agricultural education remains accessible in Florida schools.
