The Georgia Cotton Commission (GCC) has announced its guest speakers at the commission’s annual meeting scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2025 at the University of Georgia (UGA) Tifton Campus Conference Center in Tifton, Georgia.
Taylor Sills, GCC executive director, discussed the three speakers for next month’s event.
“Our three main speakers are going to be Dr. Stanley Culpepper. Of course, everybody knows Dr. Culpepper. The situation with these pesticides is kind of murky, to say the least. Instead of doing his usual breakout session, he is going to be one of the main program speakers to address that issue and the whole pesticide stewardship situation. That’s a very important issue that growers need to be updated on as they enter their purchasing season,” Sills said.
Other Speakers
“We’ve also got William Kimbrell. William is the new president and CEO of Cotton Incorporated (CI). They do a lot of good things for our industry. Berrye Worsham retired recently. Change is good. You have someone that’s done a good job for a long time and made a big impact on the industry. William is a real sharp, go-getter guy. There’s a lot of things that Cotton Incorporated does that people don’t really know about. We’re excited to have him come, not only to update the growers and industry about what CI is doing on their behalf but also to spend time with Georgia growers and make sure he understands what’s going on here in the state.
“Jeff Kuckuck is the senior government relations specialist for the National Cotton Council in Washington D.C. He and Robbie Minnick lead those efforts in Washington for the Cotton Council. He’s going to update us on this rapidly changing farm policy situation that’s not only affecting cotton but all commodities right now.”
The annual meeting is held in conjunction with the UGA Cotton Production Workshop conducted by the UGA Research & Extension Cotton Team.
