Black Vultures have had an impact on Alabama’s livestock, especially when it comes to cattle around calving season. On April 1, a new program through the Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries (ADAI) officially started.

Alabama Cattlemen’s Association (ACA) Executive Vice President, Erin Beasley, is pleased producers now can apply for a Black Vulture Depredation Permit.

It’s been noted that Black Vulture depredation rates have increased across the Southeast in recent years, surpassing 30% in some states.
