Exports of U.S. beef for the year have surpassed the $10 billion mark for the just the second time and are on pace to approach $12 billion when all 2022 shipments are tallied.
U.S. Meat Export Federation (USMEF) President and CEO Dan Halstrom comments on the growth in market diversity that has driven demand for U.S. red meat in 2022, especially beef.
Pork exports, meanwhile, have shown an expected rebound in the second half of the year, but will fall short of the records set in 2020 and 2021. Halstrom said that is being driven in part by African swine fever in China.
Halstrom notes USMEF does see growth opportunity for U.S. red meat here at the start of 2023.
