USDA Encourages Producers to Enroll Grasslands into Working Land Conservation

Dan May 6, 2022 Conservation, Environment, Livestock, Pasture, USDA-FSA

usda

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is encouraging producers and landowners to enroll in the Grassland Conservation Reserve Program (CRP). Signup ends May 13, 2022.?

Grassland CRP, a part of the CRP program, provides a unique opportunity to keep land in agricultural production and supplement your income while improving their soils and permanent grass cover.??

The program had its highest enrollment in history in 2021 and is part of the Administration’s broader effort to equip producers with the tools they need to help address climate change and invest in the long-term health of our natural resources.

Through Grassland CRP, USDA’s Farm Service Agency (FSA) provides annual rental payments to landowners to maintain and conserve grasslands while allowing producers to graze.

To learn more, contact FSA at your local USDA Service Center.

  • Argentine Ant Management Innovations
Native to South America, Argentine ants were introduced to California in 1905. Today, 90% of Southern California and coastal orchards are infested with ants. Some trees experience up to 1 million ant visits per day. Ivan Milosavljević, Citrus Research Board (CRB) entomologist, presented that information in a June 17 webinar that was part of CRB’s […]
  • Best Practices for Brown Rot Management
By Megan Dewdney The Florida rains have finally come this summer, just in time for early-season fruit to start the maturation process. This means there is some risk of brown rot in early sweet oranges and grapefruit. Much of Florida has been getting summer storms, wetting the soil. While this is excellent in general, the […]
